Background

I'm Shiva Dulam, an electronics and embedded systems engineer in the early stage of my career. My interest lies in the intersection of hardware and software — how a circuit board becomes a useful device once the right firmware runs on it.

I'm currently dedicating my time to building a strong foundation through hands-on projects, datasheet study, and coursework covering microcontroller architecture, real-time systems, and printed circuit board design.

Current Focus Areas

Embedded Systems

Understanding the full stack from hardware peripherals to application-level firmware.

Microcontrollers

Working with ARM Cortex-M (STM32) and ESP32 architectures, peripherals, and datasheets.

Electronics Design

Schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection using KiCad and Altium.

Firmware Development

Writing efficient, reliable C code for resource-constrained devices and real-time systems.

IoT & Edge AI

Connecting embedded devices to the cloud and exploring on-device machine learning with TinyML.

Learning Journey & Goals

I'm taking a structured approach to building my expertise — starting with the fundamentals of digital and analog electronics, then moving into microcontroller programming and peripheral interfacing, and finally tackling system-level design with real-time operating systems and custom PCBs.

Over the next two to three years, my goal is to move from learning exercises to complete, deployable embedded systems. I want to design boards that solve real problems, write firmware that is robust and maintainable, and develop a portfolio that demonstrates both depth and breadth across the embedded stack.

Alongside hands-on practice, I've been building a structured foundation through self-paced coursework — MIT's 6.002 (Circuits and Electronics) and Electronics-Tutorials.ws for core electronics, Neso Academy for digital electronics and C programming, and CS50 and Jacob Sorber's content for programming fundamentals.
